There is indication that Google may consider custom building chips.

There is a report that Google has contacted an employee from Apple’s chip making division.

 

It was reported on Tuesday that Google has hired Manu Gulati, a chip architect at Apple.

 

This move hints that Google following in Apple’s footsteps to build mobile devices. Currently, most phone maker’s processors designed by Qualcomm or other chipmakers. The chips run faster and better when customized by company for own phones and its operating system, iOS. 

 

According to a report, ”Google has said its hardware division is a potential area for growth and approach to diversifying its business beyond digital advertising”.

 

Investing in chip making will give Google more control over the Android hardware and software-interconnected system.
