According to a report Apple testing iPhone and iPads that do not have the chips supplied by Qualcomm Inc.

The change may affect the release date of iPhone 2018, but the report says that Apple may still change the course.

This might be the outcome of legal battle that these companies have over the licensing terms.  According to Reuters Qualcomm is providing fully tested chips to Apple for iPhones. Also Qualcomm said in a statement, “We are committed to supporting Apple’s new devices consistent with our support of all others in the industry.”

The report that Apple could drop Qualcomm chips came from The Wall Street Journal on Monday.

However it is too early to say for sure whether Apple will drop longtime chip supplier or has others on the list to use their chips in upcoming devices.
